Adoption is when the birth parents of a child sever all legal ties to their child, and the parental rights are legally given over to the new adoptive family, who are strangers.

Apart from adopting a child from your own country, intercountry adoption is also available as there are also many children from international countries who need a family.

In the UK and the USA, children are usually given up for adoption because they have been mistreated; other reasons are due to teenage pregnancy, or because the birth parents are no longer able to look after the child, or they have given up the child because it isn’t the right sex, it has some form of disability, or because they simply don’t want a child.

There are many different reasons for wanting to adopt - if couples are unable to conceive, if they want to help others by adopting, and now there are same-sex couples who prefer to adopt.

The adoption process varies from one country to another. The ethics for eligibility can differ in each country which can include the age limit, the requirements for same-sex adoption couples, and whether a single person is able to adopt.

Placing a child into care and up for adoption is free in the United States. Adopting fees for the parents vary in different countries, and even in some, to charge an adoption fee would be illegal. In the United States, for adoptions you are given a $10,000 tax credit.

The new parents face many concerns in adoption. The child’s family history and their family medical history may be unknown, or kept secret until the child starts to ask questions about where they come from. This usually happens when a child is old enough to ask the right questions, or when they feel the need to ‘find themselves’. There are always misconcepts about children who have been fostered and this is usually fuelled by the media. Some children are thought of as not being able to develop properly or will become problem, but that is not always the case, as children can fare well when given a new,loving home and go on to lead successful lives. However, many children lose out and some reach the eighteen when they are too old to be adopted and are legally adults. They fall out of the system.

Not everyone chooses to understand or support adoption, although Americans are experienced in it. The history of adoption can be traced as far back as the 18th Century B.C. During Ancient times it was more popular to adopt adults rather than children so that they could carry on the family heritage or to protect the family’s property rights. Men and women single or married had the right to adopt.

Modern adoption laws are based on the heritage in 18th Century B.C. of the Hammurabi Code. Adopting adults was the focus in Ancient Times as a means for someone to follow in one’s footsteps; whilst the Middle Ages set some ground rules with their focus on the adoption of children. Certain laws were placed in order to protect children, so by this time adoptions were dealt with by the court systems. It was in 1851, in Massachusetts, that the first state adoption took place. Rev. Charles Loring Brace was the founder of the New York Children’s Aid Society in 1853, which helped orphaned and abandoned children. He wanted to rescue these children and transport them to good Christian homes. They were placed on Brace’s ‘Emigration Plan’ onto regular trains called the ‘Orphan Trains’ for families to view at each station, until they were taken up by one of many of the wealthy farming families.

Times have changed, although we still want the best for our children, although it is still sometimes difficult to know what that is. Adoption is one of the best things to have happened over the centuries, to give children without a home a good chance to find one.

It’s up to you to take that step across the threshold of opportunity facing you now. It’s a decision you should have no hesitancy for. And when you do, you’re on your way to financial independence.

There are four major hurdles you must jump to become financially independent. I could go into a deep explanation of each step but I will save that for another time, I really want to discuss a powerful investment strategy. But I will briefly outline the four steps to financial independence.

So to get started, lets begin with the first of our skills of wealth building and that is earning. You must understand the two basic components controlling your earning power.

The first of these is our ability to perform our chosen line of work, that is, how well do we do what we do. The second and probably the most important factor controlling our earning power, is the demand in the marketplace for whatever it is we’ve chosen to do.

Second, you must build a financial protection account to cover all your expenses in case of an emergency, such as the loss of your income source. Saving is really the second important skill for acquiring wealth. You must have the discipline to build a protection account that will cover all your living expenses for your family, for a period of a year or two.

The third step in becoming financially independent is to begin an investment program. You want to achieve the highest returns on the money that you have designated for your investment program. Your objective now is to accumulate a mass of capital that will generate sufficient income to support your lifestyle without your having to work.

The fourth step to financial independence is too develop enough investment prowess to earn the extra income that allows you to fill your wants and desires. You have your needs met, but now you want to create the extra income that allows you to become financially free, this is where you can basically satisfy most of all your wants.

There, now that we have the four basic steps to financial freedom. I would like to carry on with the main focus of this article.

But I must make it clear that I had set up multiple Avenues of Income first, to put me in the financial situation that affords me the ability to test the waters of many different financial opportunities.

So, now I would like to discuss a powerful investment strategy. This is an investment strategy that has worked well for me in all types of market conditions. And by no means is this a strategy that I designed. In fact, it’s one that has been used successfully from a time long before the modern market and the stock exchange even existed. It’s called value investing.

Value investing is the best long term strategy for creating wealth that’s ever been devised. The theory behind it all is remarkably simple. You can become a value investor by investing your money only in under-valued assets. You can find under-valued assets in stocks and bonds, real estate or a wide variety of other investment opportunities. But whatever the investment asset may be, value investing boils down to the equivalent of buying dollar bills for pennies.

Now, I am sure you are saying “If it’s really that easy, everyone would be doing it.” I want to assure you easy as it actually is, everyone is not doing it. As with all great ideas in the world, only a few recognize them for what they are, and fewer still then decide to act on them.

Under-valued assets exist for reasons that range from fluctuations in the economy to fluctuations in human emotions.

It’s important to understand, however, that you can always find undervalued assets if you are willing to look for them. And, you don’t have to do this all by yourself. Look for investment professionals who operate investment funds and companies using this strategy. Through study and practice you will learn to accurately assess values as a basis for profitable investment.

Another key mindset of wealth is thinking and acting like a business person as well as an investor. Remember the better business person you are, the better investor you’ll be. And the better investor you become, the better business person you’ll be.

Please also keep in mind that value investing may offer important opportunities to take an active role in creating value in your investments. For example, you might turn an unwanted piece of real estate into an income producing asset, or turn a failing business into a thriving business, or create a new product or service based on a need or want you see in the marketplace.

Another form of value investing is investing in yourself and your abilities. There are many ways of increasing the cash flow into your families finances.

Setting up avenues of income that could hold the possibility of creating a passive and/or residual stream of income. If you take the opportunity to set up another stream of income, you would really be increasing your ability to grow anyone of your other investments. And, there are many ways of creating an extra souse of income that doesn’t consume every spare minute that you have. To the contrary, making such a move in your life would possibly result in you’re having even more free time to do the things you love.

The options are endless. The possibilities of a whole knew future are there for the taking.

Because you would have to live in Indianapolis. More people want to live in the Boston Area than there are homes, so prices rise. (Supply and demand.)

1. The land in eastern MA is expensive.
2. It’s expensive to build here, because the labor costs are high, because the workers have to live in expensive MA.
3. Because Boston is a GREAT city to live in, and many people want to live here.
4. Because Boston has a bay to the east, and that cuts the available land. We can’t expand in that direction.
5. Boston is an old city, surrounded by old cities and towns. Getting anything built takes years. That makes the rest of the real estate more expensive.
6. The student population helps somewhat, as there is a ready supply of renters that aren’t too picky.

FALMOUTH, MA- Cable Guys Rescue Woman from house Fire

WOODS HOLE — Sometimes the cable guy has a good reason for showing up late.

Jim MacConnell and Tom Masciulli, two Comcast technicians, helped save an 88-year-old woman from a fire yesterday that ravaged a home at 122 Gardiner Road overlooking Buzzards Bay.

Woods Hole House FireThe names of the homeowners were not released, but 2007 records show the property is assessed at $2.4 million and is owned by Frederick and Marguerite Smith, both 88.

MacConnell and Masciulli, the two repairmen, had installed a phone line at 124 Gardiner Road around 11:45 a.m. and were preparing to leave when the homeowner flagged them down because the phone had stopped working.

They never imagined a temporary equipment failure would end up saving a life.

Just moments later, an elderly neighbor came running out of the house next door, screaming about a fire in his home and his wife trapped inside, MacConnell said. He and Masciulli tried the side door but it was locked, so the pair raced around to the back of the house, where they entered through a rear door. MacConnell said there was heavy, black smoke throughout the house that made it difficult to search for the woman.

Finally, they spotted her at the top of the stairs trying to get to the bottom floor.

With flames flickering just behind her on the second floor, MacConnell and Masciulli walked her out of the burning home to safety. “There was so much black smoke and she had soot all over her face,” MacConnell said, while watching firefighters battle the blaze. “If we had left, it’s just my opinion, but if we weren’t here she would’ve perished.”

Irene O’Connell, who lives in the house where the installers were working, said she panicked when she saw the smoke coming from next door. If not for MacConnell and Masciulli, O’Connell said she dreads what would have happened.

“They’re the real heroes today,” O’Connell said as she hugged MacConnell and thanked him.

O’Connell said neither Fred nor Marguerite “Peggy” Smith required treatment at Falmouth Hospital, and will stay temporarily at the Woods Hole Inn nearby.

Their son lives in Fitchburg and was on his way to the Cape yesterday afternoon, O’Connell said.

Police and fire officials at the scene said no one received life-threatening injuries, although one Falmouth firefighter suffered smoke inhalation and another had a shoulder injury, said Falmouth fire Deputy Chief Glen Rogers. He declined to release their names.

The home is likely a total loss, Rogers said.

Although it has been determined the fire started on the second floor, he said the cause is still under investigation.

Crews from Falmouth, Mashpee, Bourne and the Massachusetts Military Reservation Fire Department helped battle the blaze, with flames reaching 30 feet into the air. Rogers said moderately sufficient water pressure and southwest winds pushing the flames toward a nearby home and trees made battling the fire difficult.

Rogers said the smoke was so heavy upon arrival that crews had a difficult time locating the driveway and fire hydrants.

Firefighters from Plymouth and Cotuit provided mutual aid.
