Suggesting this music reflects authentic mariachi music is like saying taco bell represents authentic mexican food. The music and vocals are so unoriginal, uninspired, and cliche compared to the genuine article. This music sounds like more of a novelty act ideal for listening to while drinking a few coronas. IMHO Robert Rodriguez’s band chingon does a better job of combining rock/mariachi, but neither can approach the musicianship or vocal stylings found in a real group like Mariachi Vargas.

Im Mexican American and my family comes from Jalisco, the region of Mexico mariachi music comes from. And Ive grown up with mariachi my entire life. I love mariachi and I love rock.
